Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Rest in peace, Mr. Kyle. I had the privilege of knowing you as my gym teacher at Margaret Underhill School, and you made more of an impact than you probably ever realized. You weren’t just teaching sports—you were teaching discipline, encouragement, and how to keep going even when things felt tough. You had a way of pushing us while still making us feel capable, and that stays with a person for life. Those lessons didn’t end in the gym—they carried far beyond it. Thank you for the time, the energy, and the care you gave to your students. You made a difference. May you rest in peace and may God hold you close. 🙏 - Posted by: Cherrie (Student) on: Apr 13, 2026

  • Lawrie was my first cooperating teacher when I began my Education degree in 1986 at Wayoata School. Observing his kind and caring approach to his grade six students shaped the type of teacher I strived to become. He taught me that greeting each student every morning with a handshake and hello at the door of his classroom would form strong connections and help me assess their mental well-being to ensure optimal learning. Lawrie’s students and those he mentored to become teachers were very fortunate to have learned from such a good man who was passionate about the teaching profession. Rest in peace, Lawrie. - Posted by: Tammy Rak (Former student teacher) on: Apr 12, 2026

  • I am so very saddened that I won't see his smiling face again. We worked together for a few years. He was always very open minded, fair and kind. My heart goes out to his family. - Posted by: Moira Honey (Colleague) on: Apr 11, 2026

  • I’m so sad to read that Lawrie passed away. Such a wonderful friend from many years ago. Lawrie was the best man at my first wedding in 1966. Although we lost touch after my divorce I enjoyed seeing Lawrie and his band playing at Concordia Village where my dad lived. We had a lot of fun back in the day. My sincere and deepest sympathy to Barb and the family. Always in our hearts and memories. - Posted by: karen asgeirson (Dobson) (Friend) on: Apr 11, 2026

  • Lawrie taught both my sons and I worked with him for a few years. I was in the library. I also enjoyed seeing him every year at the Oakbank Dinner Theatre and he always mentioned my sons. My condolences to the family. He will be missed. - Posted by: Kathy Tremblay (Co-worker) on: Apr 11, 2026
